Save and Forget is the published version of the author’s master thesis from The Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam. It serves as a theoretical framework for the netnographic approach of his artist’s book My Hard-Drive Died Along With My Heart, reflecting on the history, materiality, and half-life of digital storage, from the Library of Alexandria and microfilm to the invention of the cloud. Thomas Walskaar deliberately focuses on people’s individual dealings with digital memories and storage technologies and their reaction to the loss of their digital memory when their hard drive dies.

The book, originally published in 2016, has been updated as indicated in the imprint. This is “Version 2.0, January 2018.”
