This collection belongs to the ABC Projects series by Artists’ Books Cooperative (ABC), such as ABC Days and ABCEUM. In the spirit of the famous XEROX Book, ABC members were invited to “submit a chapter for a book of artists’ exercises.” The length of the contribution was optional, as was whether it was an invitation to the reader to participate or an exercise executed by the artist. Accordingly, the collection is advertised in the blurb as an “educational guide” and is listed on Lulu under the category “Education & Language.”
The contributions are arranged alphabetically, each beginning with the name of the artist in the same font and position. Eric Doeringer opens with another version of The Location of Lines (after Sol LeWitt), for which he already published his own print-on-demand series in 2012. Rahel Zoller concludes with an exercise on the permutation of different positions of the letters “AaBbCc.” The theme of education is taken up by Oliver Griffin with Post Education Equipment Inventory and by Wil van Iersel with a compilation of scribbles and calculations from school notebooks and textbooks. Also involved were Mishka Henner, Dawn Kim, Tanja Lažetić, Jonathan Lewis, John Maclean, Louis Porter, and Duncan Wooldridge.
