This work pretends to be a reprint of Notes on Conceptualisms (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2009) by Vanessa Place and Robert Fitterman for its tenth anniversary, but it is not to scale, since only the standard Lulu formats are available. It also does not reproduce the original text, but instead Susan Sontag’s essay “Notes on Camp” published in 1964, replacing the word “camp” with “conceptualism” each time. Similarly, Place and Fitterman’s names act as placeholders for an anonymous uploader. This intersection results in a biting commentary on conceptual writing, which has come under heavy criticism in recent years: “The ultimate Conceptualist statement: it’s good because it’s awful… But one can’t always say that. Only under certain conditions, which I’ve tried to sketch in these notes” (Notes On “Conceptualism,” note 58).
