Publication Studio, founded in 2009 in Portland, Oregon, is a publisher and producer of original books, handmade and on-demand, distributed through a global network of 11 studios on four continents as it currently stands. When a book is ordered, the nearest Studio takes on production and shipping in order to minimize expenses. Every Studio contributes publications to the catalog, with a PDF to print and instructions on how the book should be produced (format, material, cutting, binding, etc.).

Catalogue was produced on the occasion of an exhibition of the same name at MAMA, Rotterdam from May to July 2018, curated by Yin Yin Wong and Isabelle Sully who run the Publication Studio in Rotterdam. While the exhibition featured sixteen works created through the Publication Studio network, the catalog includes a complete list of all works published by the Studios as far as Wong and Sully were able to track them down—underscoring the difficulties of cataloging the activities of studios that operate as individual actors in a decentralized network. The publication also includes an essay by Sully and an index of all Studios in the network with a brief summary of their respective histories.
