“*blurb *by Andreas Schmidt is the purest Blurb book you will ever find” (blurb on Blurb). The book contains nothing but the signature Blurb logo at the bottom of each page. This logo is automatically put at the end of every book by Blurb. You have to pay an extra fee if you don’t want it in your book. Schmidt kept it in his books for financial reasons. At the same time, Blurb’s branding and self-promotion fits well with his approach of wanting to make “bad books” that are honest at the same time, i.e., books that stand by their production method.
In the imprint, Schmidt claims: “The book author retains sole copyright to his or her contributions to this book.” Blurb accused him of copyright infringement because of the unauthorized use of the logo and Schmidt’s claim that this book was “the purest Blurb book.” At the end of the dispute, Schmidt had to sign a confidentiality agreement.
The edition is limited to 100 copies.
